Trying to install a genuine windows 7 fails due to missing "DVD device driver" . in Dell.com download center there is no such specific driver, and it seems that all files are for after-installation. Very disappointed from support since they refused to help because it's an OS issue.

"missing "DVD device driver" is a bad DVDR pirated copy OR scrached disc OR missing Mass storage F6 driver. I'm thinking pirated windows 7 copy due to the need for the statement genuine windows.

Windows 8 has a utility called Easy Transfer. I personally haven't done this using Windows 8 but the process for Windows 7 was extremely easy, although it took some time. The easiest way to go is by connecting both systems to your network.

They're not cheating you. Most likely your state and Crucial came to an agreement on collecting sales tax, just like Amazon agreed to collect sales tax on orders shipped to some states, and/or because Crucial has a physical presence in your state.

Only if the warranty is still active and Dell has the disks available (eg, XP disks are probably no longer available). Otherwise, they may refuse or charge you for the disks. The factory reset should restore your system to its out-of-the-box state.

Yeah, this caddy (tray) is available online through Amazon. Just type in OptiPlex 755 Hard Drive or accessories and walla, it'll pop up. There are several choices. You'll find yours. The approximate cost is in the $20 dollar range.

Have you nosed around on eBay or at some of the online sites that sell OEM Dell parts to see if you can pick up the matching case? And you can always contact Dell Spare Parts to see if they have this case for sale.

I have this model. When MS dropped support of XP, I started having problems with printing, scanning, etc. almost immediately. I was advised to upgrade to Win7, which I did. However when I started installing my programs, I was running out of disk space. So, I bought a new HD (1TB).

And depending on the version of Windows, and if this was a clean install, did you install the Desktop System Software immediately after installing Windows, and ahead of the chipset driver? There are two Broadcom 57XX drivers listed. Did you install the right one?

My 18-month old Inspiron One 2320 display stopped coming on immediately when power turned on. Usually it now takes about 5 minutes or so. The past week, it has taken a reboot and a wait of about 30 minutes before the display comes on. For two days, it has started flickering while in use.
