I recently upgraded 520 from XP to Win7, upgraded to a 1 TB HD and two new 2GB memory chips. The problem is that after using it, it often crashes, the screen goes blank and it reboots itself. Its quite frustration. My current CPU is 2.8 Ghx, 2194 Mhz 2 core processor, with a bios version of 2.2.1.

. These processors are 120W processors. We can therefor assume that your current FD841 heatsink will be adequate if X5450 or X5460 are the 2 processors you're considering.

Wow thanks guys for all those replies. I will hopefully get my 8700 tommarow or Friday based on what FedEx chooses. But what do you guys mean by the 970 doesn't click into place.

Chris, just wanted to say thanks for following up on this. I recently purchased an 8700 and while I'm not currently in the market for a new video card, I appreciate that Dell is working on this issue. Keep up the good work! ~Mark

I purchased a display-model Inspiron 3847 recently from a "big box" store, which included a Dell Wireless Keyboard/Mouse Combo - KM632. The mouse and receiver work fine together, however, the keyboard does not.

This just happened to me, and I didn't see it the first time, but this power supply has a little breaker on the back that pops out a little bit. Push it back it and that might fix this issue, it fixed my issue.

That's true. Thank you Richard for passing the point that I wanted to say. Thanks Chris for all the updates. I've been reading this thread since last night, all because I got an XPS8700 and happened to buy another GTX 970. Lucky me

Is the Geforce 220 video card compatible with the Inspiron 3847 running Windows 8.1? I was using it in an Inspiron 560 running Windows 7 and it worked fine. When I transfer it to the 3847 I get no display on the monitor.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Yes, I bought AX5450 1GBK3-SH and inserted in the only PCIe slot available at the top. (The link on the powercolor site seems dead so I added the newegg link)

Note, that I choose the "Back Blower" version of the card rather than the double fan ATX 2.0 version. That's because the case design of the XPS 8500 doesn't have "Great" circulation.

They do have to charge me sales tax but is my fault expecting the employees to know why even though it is not very complicated. It is because they are owned by Micron who has a presence in my nexus. No other reason. Either way, thanks for the help and link to their site! Found same ram cheaper

I moved a consolidated copy of the post over to that side. I also added a bunch of tags so folks might find it. I posted my information here because it was the top search result on Google for the keywords I kept trying to use myself. I hope the info helps some folks. I tried to include everything I

When the computer display has already been on and I boot into safe mode, the display comes up quickly. However, when the computer has been off for a bit, and I boot into safe mode, the display has the same 20-30 minute lag it has when I first boot up at the beginning of the day.

I am having the exact same issue as mike was having. I have tried all the suggestion above to no avail. 1. computer will not boot at all. 2. impossible without number 1. 3. does not work. 4 screen actually tells me to hit f12 for boot menu but nothing happens.
