Are you talking about the BIOS password or Windows password? If it's the Windows password, you will have to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows. Have you tried just pressing Enter when it asks for the password?

Forum Post: Re install
I have run the Dban nuke to strip my computer, I could not seem to do it any other way. I have been getting help from someone across the pond. My trouble is that when he is asleep I am awake and vice versa. There for there is only a short window to actually converse.

Forum Post: RE: Controlling HDMI volume: AC511 and P2815Q
For other users that may have this question/issue = The monitor and the speakers are slave receivers of the HDMI audio. The HDMI audio volume is controlled via the master device sending the HDMI signal to the monitor.

Did you connect the SSD to the SATA 0 port on the motherboard. Right now the 3T is probably connected to SATA 0 because it was set up as the boot drive at the factory. You can swap the SATA data cables between the 2 drives, assuming they reach, and see if that solves the problem.

Forum Post: Rebuilding a Dell XPS 420
Hey not positive this is the right place to post but I have an old XPS 420 and i'm thinking about rebuilding it instead of buying a new pc. I really don't know where to start and am just looking for advice. What would I need to upgrade to get it up to par?

Have you enabled usb boot support in bios setup? It's disabled by default. I don't know what this means. I have not done anything and your statement does not tell me what to do, it just asks me if I have done something. I did forget to tell you that I am not good at computers.

So I'm connecting in an Amazon FireTV, a Roku, AppleTV and a Chromecast. None of these have audio on the device. When I connect them to a TV, for example, I control the volume through the TV, not the master HDMI device. In fact there is no volume control at all available in any of these devices.

Forum Post: Zino HD 410 remote
I have had the Zino for several years without any issues. Recently the remote no longer works. Have tried changing the batteries but still not working. Wondering if I can just buy a new Dell remote, will it work with the sensor in my Zino?

Forum Post: DELL XPS 8700 SE Bios A08
I was wondering for all you people that have an XPS 8700 who updated to the A08 bios update. I heard that there were problems when people upgraded their bios to A06. I was wondering if A08 is good and will not cause any problems. When I upgraded to A06, I had to get a MB replacement.

Forum Post: Mouse port to USB mouse problem
I have a Dell Optiplex GX270 running Windows XP Home SP3 installed from a retail cd. I am trying to upgrade my mouse, the one I am using often goes unresponsive; however, the unresponsive mouse plugs into the green mouse port on the tower, and the new mouse is a USB one.

I'd like to chime in, as a recent inductee of the "I bought a GTX 970 for my XPS 8700, what do you mean it's broken" club. For what it matters, I have a July 2013 vintage XPS 8700 purchased this year and an EVGA ACX 2.0 GTX 970 video card.

vinhtq115 The OptiPlex 3020 MT supports a power supply with a motherboard 8-pin P1 and 4-pin P2 power connectors. See pages 19 and 27, of the owner's manual I posted the link to. The Antec 650w unit that's installed in the picture you posted, seems to have a 24-pin P1 connector. Bev.

Not much you can do except get a faster graphics board. You probably have Vista or XP. Upgrading to win 7or 8 will help a little. Adding more RAM is the best way to gain performance.

Thank you to all the Dell customers that have posted about this concern. We have developed a BIOS solution which is currently still in validation testing. We anticipate that the web posted solution will be made available in mid December.
